Jakarta. As part of its efforts to encourage independent retailers to embrace electronic payments, credit card firm MasterCard hosted a workshop titled "Master Your Card" in Bali on Thursday (04/08).
The workshop, which was presented in collaboration with the Bali Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) and the Indonesian Computer Business Association (Apkomindo), was aimed at educating industry players about the benefits of electronic payments and its catalyzing effect in growing their businesses.
"Bali is one of the top destinations for global tourists, which presents a big opportunity for small businesses to take advantage of the electronic payment technology to expand their business and meet consumer needs," MasterCard executive director for community relations Ravi Aurora said in a statement.
The workshop, which was presented in collaboration with the Bali Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) and the Indonesian Computer Business Association (Apkomindo), was aimed at educating industry players about the benefits of electronic payments and its catalyzing effect in growing their businesses.

Bali ranks eighth in the MasterCard Asia Pacific Destinations Index 2016 — after Bangkok, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Tokyo, Seoul, Phuket and Hong Kong — attracting 7.8 million visitors annually, estimated to spend a combined $11 billion during their visits.
The workshop was attended by more than 150 owners of small- and medium-sized businesses in Bali, who are also members of Kadin and Apkomindo.
The credit card firm's community empowerment program, which focuses on education and public awareness about electronic payments and how it provides businesses a higher competitive edge in the national and international stage, also took place in Jakarta in June.
The program falls in line with the central bank's Non-Cash Payment Movement to promote a cashless society. MasterCard will continue to host the workshop in other cities in Indonesia.
"Sellers must understand their rights and responsibilities, and keep their guard against fraud, while taking advantage of electronic payments to boost sales. We believe that this workshop will be highly beneficial to all of our members," Apkomindo Bali deputy chairman Komang Purnama said.
