Google Free LMS

Google Developing Free LMS as Part of Apps for Education

Google is now taking applications for a limited preview of a new app called Google Classroom — a tool that brings learning management functionality to the Google Apps for Education suite.
According to Google Apps for Education Product Manager Zach Yeskel, Google Classroom is designed "to give teachers more time to teach [and to] give students more time to learn" by helping them avoid "some of the busywork" that's part of the process of teaching. Yeskel said Classroom has been piloted in about a dozen schools around the country so far, including institutions in New York, California and Illinois.
Google Classroom provides, among other things:
  • Assignments that integrate with Google Drive and Google Docs;
  • Grading;
  • Real-time feedback on student work;
  • Assignment sheets;
  • Real-time questions;
  • Announcements;
  • Commenting; and
  • Homework collection and organization.
When teachers open the Classroom app, they're presented with a screen displaying their classes on cards, which give a summary of open assignments and other details. They can then click on a particular course for managing assignments and grades or performing other tasks. When instructors create assignments, Google generates folders within Google Drive to organize them automatically.
The Google Classroom home screen (prerelease) includes class cards that provide a summary of open assignments.

Students who use Apps for Education can see which assignments are due for any given class by visiting their Classroom home screen. The new tool also adds a button in Google Docs that let's them submit their assignments with a single click. Their work is automatically associated with a instructor's assignment and filed to the appropriate assignment folder when they click the "turn-in" button.
K-12, college and university educators can apply now to be a part of the preview. It isn't clear how many teachers will be accepted as part of the preview, but those who are accepted will be notified within about a month. A sign-up sheet is available for educators.
As part of the launch, Google is also inviting other ed tech companies to inquire about integrating their tools with Google Classroom. Yeskel said Google is aiming to "make sure it works alongside all existing tools that teachers use." (A separatesign-up sheet is available for developers.)
The final Google Classroom product is expected to be released globally in 40 languages by September, at which point it will be available to all institutions that use Google Apps for Education. (The suite is currently in use by about 30 million instructors and students.) Google Classroom will be a core app within the Apps for Education suite and will be available for free upon its formal launch.
Complete details can be found on the Google Classroom portal, which just went live this morning. To sign up for the preview, educators should visitclassroom.google.com/signup.

Timer AC bergantian

Kondisi I (Timer 2-1):

20 Tips to Becoming a Peak-Performing Business Leader
On any given day, Evolution Trainers, a 10,000 square foot facility in Mountain View, Calif., is sprawling with members, three-quarters of whom are local tech employees, engineers, venture capitalists and M&A lawyers routinely exercising to reverse the damages of desk life.
20 Tips to Becoming a Peak-Performing Business Leader
“Folks living the Silicon Valley dream often have sedentary jobs, overloaded work schedules, and little to no free time,” says Peter D’Epiro of Evolution Trainers, who holds certifications in strength and conditioning, functional movement systems and eating modification. He and other trainers at the top-rated Silicon Valley gym tailor exercise and nutritional programs to help individuals reclaim their physiques, which can get sidelined during the course of a busy work-week.
Meanwhile, David Silverstein, CEO and founder of Colorado-based consulting firm BMGI, advises Fortune 500 companies around the world on how to stay sharp and keep a competitive edge by thinking innovatively, which can get sidelined when management gets buried in sales figures and reports.
“Nowadays everyone wants to be data-driven,” Silverstein says. “That’s great but your competitors will have the same data, so you’re all going to come to the same conclusion. That’s why you always have to infuse some element of creative thinking.”
Silverstein’s universal advice to both corporate and startup leaders: “They owe it to themselves and their stakeholders or investors to improve their mental fitness.  A CEO not working at full mental capacity runs the risk of losing his or her company’s competitive edge.”
20 Tips to Becoming a Peak-Performing Business Leader
In his book Become an Elite Mental Athlete, Silverstein distills the latest research in cognitive science and neuroscience to explore ways we can boost our brain power to make better decisions. He cites research by UCLA and the University of Pittsburgh that studied 94 brains and found that the worst-hit brain areas of obese people were those most vital to higher-order reasoning, judgment, and decision-making.
So here’s a list of simple lifestyle changes from Silverstein to help startup CEOs stay at the top of their games, followed by D’Epiro’s optimal workout routines for the time-starved business leader. Read on for the top 20 peak performance tips.

“Even though LeBron James may be the best basketball player in the world, he keeps training to stay on top and to achieve an even better game. Corporate leaders should be mental athletes, too.” – Silverstein

1. Rehydrate often: The brain is composed of 75 to 80 percent water, which means that dehydration can affect proper brain functioning. Keep a carafe (a sleek one) of water by your desk so you could constantly rehydrate throughout the work day.
20 Tips to Becoming a Peak-Performing Business Leader
2. Balance your caffeine:  Caffeine heightens awareness but is detrimental to deep thought.  One cup of coffee is great.  Even better: green, white and black teas include a substance called L-theanine which stimulates alpha waves.
3. Determine how much sleep you need and get that quality sleep every night:  It takes one hour of sleep to pay for every two hours of functional wakefulness.  If you remember your dreams, chances are you are sleeping well.
4. Train your working memory:  Think of your working memory as your brain’s desktop.  The more you can keep on your desk for instant access and comparison, the better. Studies have shown that working memory is responsible for at least 25 percent of the variation in fluid intelligence among individuals.  There are a variety of apps, websites and software to help you do this.
5. Increase your stamina by task switching:  Fatigue is a signal you’ve been activating the same neural pathways too long.  If you have reached a point of diminishing returns, switch tasks and be amazed at how much energy you have gained.
Diet tips to boost your brain:
6. Consume choline:  It improves brain speed and memory.  It’s found in almonds, broccoli, egg (with yolk), peanuts and peanut butter.
7. Feed your brain the right fats: These are omega-3 and omega-6 essential fatty acids (EFA), and the brain needs a ratio of 4:1 of omega-3s to omega-6s.
But according to a study by Dr. A.P. Simopoulos in Biomedicine & Pharmacotherapy, in Western diets, the ratio of omega-6 (think vegetable-oil fried food) to omega-3 EFA is 15:1, leading to many diseases.

To get omega-3s, look for cold-water fish such as salmon, sardines, herring, anchovies, tuna, and mackerel. Flaxseeds, walnuts, and walnut oil are also good sources of omega-3s. Look for specially marked omega-3 eggs whenever possible. The notion of eggs raising blood cholesterol was disproven years ago, so feel free to eat eggs daily.

8. Choose foods that contain more acetylcholine: The chemical acetylcholine is a neurotransmitter that determines your brain’s processing speed found in cruciferous vegetables like broccoli, cauliflower and Brussels sprouts, bok choy and kale.

When your acetylcholine levels are high, you feel creative, but low acetylcholine significantly decreases brain speed, resulting in “brain fog” and “clouded thinking” which is what you experience when your thinking becomes disjointed.

Exercise tips to boost your brain:

Remember that your brain needs lots of energy—it burns 20 percent of your daily calories. Research has shown that the gains from exercise were most dramatic in brain areas critical to learning and memory.

The brain has lots of blood vessels, just like the rest of the body, so that means that exercise will help keep the brain’s blood vessels healthy, too.

9. Remember to exercise. Exercise to remember: Findings such as these have led neuroscientists like Peter Snyder to say that exercise is the best memory enhancer. Running and other forms of aerobic exercise have been shown to create new brain cells in the parts of the brain associated with memory and thinking.

10. Keep your brain guessing: When choosing among different kinds of aerobic exercise, choose a competitive sport or activity that involves movements that you’re not able to anticipate. For example, basketball, tennis, soccer, and even ping-pong are better than golf or swimming, where the movements are much more predictable as opposed to requiring fast reaction.

“This is a real world list, and one that a real professional would espouse to a time-starved client.” -- D’Epiro

1. Be realistic, be reasonable: Rome wasn’t built in a day, nor will your fitness and your physique. Look to the science of behavior modification and work on changing one habit at a time… just one.  Don’t start working out at high intensity for seven days a week and follow every latest diet fad.
20 Tips to Becoming a Peak-Performing Business Leader
2. Get an interval timer: Get the app or order the actual timer from www.gymboss.com.  It will allow you to program two different timed intervals, one for work and one for rest.  Rather than thinking that you need huge amounts of time for exercise, use the timer for short and effective high-intensity interval workouts.
3. Learn “Tabata”: The trendy workout regimen lasts only 4 minutes, but it’s an intense 4 minutes. Clinical research proved very successful at improving fitness and altering body composition. At 8 rounds of 20 seconds of work and 10 seconds of rest, the Tabata protocol or any similar variation will give you fast and effective workouts. Use a timer to program these interval workouts, hit start, and it will be over before you know it.
4. Swing, baby, swing: Building on the theme of efficiency and effectiveness, the kettlebell swing gives you the most bang for your buck in terms of working your whole body, getting your heart rate up, building strength and power, improving posture and just about everything. Find a reliable StrongFirst certified kettlebell instructor near you using the instructor locator at www.strongfirst.com.
5. Stand up: Consider using a standing workstation, either full time or alternating it with your seated work station throughout the day. You’ll burn a few more calories and condition yourself to an upright and healthier posture versus the Neanderthal posture promoted by staring at a screen all day in a chair.
6. Don’t eat at your desk: Leave your workstation for your lunch break.  “I always tell my clients: ‘notice the term is lunch break, not lunch typing, lunch coding, lunch working!” says D’Epiro. “Give your brain a little siesta.”
20 Tips to Becoming a Peak-Performing Business Leader
7. Read a book: Our favorite pick at Evolution Partners is Power of Full Engagement. Learn from the anecdotal stories about real people, and learn how to manage your energy better to be more efficient which might then leave time for exercise.
8. Move: By any means and mode necessary. Take walks, go to the gym, workout at home, follow videos on YouTube.  Whatever you choose to do, just make sure you move your body as it was intended. We weren’t designed to sit at a desk all day.
9. Lather, rinse, repeat: If you have the choice between a nice long workout once or twice a week or very short workouts most days of the week, you’re going to get better results from short, effective workouts more frequently. This is in line with the last tips: learn the Tabata protocol or the kettlebell swing, then perform that short, intense, timed workout frequently.
10. Do what you do best, hire all the rest: “Most strength and conditioning coaches I know don’t sit and tinker with their computers during breaks,” says D’Epiro. Fitness professionals seek the appropriate professional to fix things like their broken car or computer rather than trying to do it themselves. This clears up your schedule for more exercise and physical activity.

Here at Enterprise Networking Planet, we encourage networking and IT pros to boost their job performance and career prospects by engaging with the overall business pressuresat their companies. Bringing your projects and proposals in line with business goals demonstrates that you're a big-picture thinker capable of bringing real value to your employer. And what do most employers want? To spend less and make more. A new, cloud-based Wi-Fi management solution from Ruckus Wireless claims to help organizations do just that.
Announced last month, Ruckus's Smart Access Management Service (SAMS) allows businesses (and the VARs and MSPs that serve them) to quickly configure public Wi-Fi hotspot access, serve advertisements and other content on custom registration pages, and manage the wireless network, all from a unified  cloud dashboard. This eliminates the need for businesses to maintain their own WLAN controllers, authentication servers, advertising engines, and other infrastructure. Theoretically, this should significantly cut infrastructure costs. Additionally, the user-friendliness of the dashboard and the drag-and-drop configuration wizards, which Ruckus demonstrated for me in a video call, enable rapid setup and deployment.
Ruckus SAMS dashboard
Among the features most likely to help wireless network admins bring value to their organizations are the data collection and analytics tools included with SAMS. Social logins and custom survey questions presented at launch can help businesses collect demographic information to fine-tune their campaigns and sales strategies. The WYSIWYG login page editor allows for consistent branding. Finally, enterprising users can monetize their networks by offering advertising opportunities to other businesses.

Menginstal OpenERP 7 di Ubuntu.

Installing OpenERP 7 on UBUNTU

9:34 am | OpenERP
The purpose of this step by step guide and video is to help someone with moderate IT skills and ability to follow directions install a working version of OpenERP 7 on an Ubuntu server. This is a basic setup that would be useful for development and testing purposes. Below is the basic steps that are used in this video presentation to setup OpenERP 7.0.

BASIC STEPS FOR OPENERP 7 INSTALLATION ON UBUNTU

  • Download & Install Oracle Virtual Box
  • Download & Install Umbutu (This walkthrough uses Ubuntu 12.10)
  • Configure OpenERP system account on the server
  • Install PostGRES SQL and configure permissions
  • Download latest trunk version (This example uses )
  • Configure OpenERP settings
  • Test OpenERP Installation

INSTALLING ORACLE VM VIRTUAL BOX

<p”>This setup is for people with some technical expertise who want to setup OpenERP for development, testing, or perhaps trying the system out for some potential uses in their business. Oracle’s VM Virtual Box is perfect for this sort of installation as you can quickly get up and running on your existing hardware. All the steps are essentially the same as installing Ubuntu on dedicated hardware. This method allows you to get up and going very fast.Step 1: Download VM Virtual Box - http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/server-storage/virtualbox/downloads/index.html
Step 2: Install VM Virtual box
Step 3: Create a new server in VM Virtual Box

INSTALLING UBUNTU

Step 1: Download Ubuntu - http://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop
For this guide we downloaded version 12.10. Any recent version of Ubuntu should work as well although you may run into issues if you use a version before 10.05. Remember where you save the ISO.
Step 2: Mount the ISO in Virtual Box
In the VM manager go to settings and choose storage. There you will see your virtual CD. Click the small icon on the right to select your downloaded Ubuntu ISO and mount it.
Step 3: Start the Ubuntu server and install the OS
The process is very straight forward. Just  follow the prompts. Make sure you choose ‘install’ instead of the option to simply ‘try’ Ubuntu. NOTE: DO NOT MAKE YOUR USER ‘openerp’. We will be using that user login to run the openerp server. If you use openerp as the primary login for the server you may have trouble completing the rest of the steps in this guide.
Step 4: Reboot the server

CONFIGURE THE OPENERP USER AND INSTALL POSTGRES

Step 1: Type ctrl-alt-T to bring up the command window
The graphical interface is little or no use in installing OpenERP.
Step 2: Configure the openerp user
sudo adduser –system –home=/opt/openerp –group  openerp
This command creates a user named ‘openerp’ configured as a system user. There is no login or password for this user.
Step 3: Install Postgre
sudo apt-get install postgresql
This command will install all the necessary libraries for postgres.
sudo su – postgres
This command logs you in as the postgres user so that you can configure the database
createuser –createdb –username postgres –no-createrole –no-superuser –pwprompt openerp
This command will create the user and prompt you to enter a password. Make sure you don’t forget the password.
exit
This command will log you out of the postgres account.

INSTALL THE PYTHON DEPENDENCIES

This step is easy but a bit tedious. OpenERP does not automatically install all the python libraries it needs to run. You need to install them manually.
TIP: Use the up arrow on your keyboard to bring up the previous command. Then just change the end extension. I do this to keep from having to type python over and over again
Here is the complete list. If you happen to skip one you will see an error during installation that will identify to you which dependency you are missing.
sudo apt-get install python-docutils
sudo apt-get install python-gdata
sudo apt-get install python-mako
sudo apt-get install python-dateutil
sudo apt-get install python-feedparser
sudo apt-get install python-lxml
sudo apt-get install python-libxslt1
sudo apt-get install python-ldap
sudo apt-get install python-reportlab
sudo apt-get install python-pybabel
sudo apt-get install python-pychart
sudo apt-get install python-openid
sudo apt-get install python-simplejson
sudo apt-get install python-psycopg2
sudo apt-get install python-vobject
sudo apt-get install python-tz
sudo apt-get install python-vatnumber
sudo apt-get install python-webdav
sudo apt-get install python-xlwt
sudo apt-get install python-werkzeug
sudo apt-get install python-yaml
sudo apt-get install python-zsi
You really don’t have to worry about typing a line more than once. It will just re-install it. Depending on the exact build you use it is possible one or more dependencies may be left out of this list. Typically the server will tell you if it is missing one and you can just install the missing dependency using the same syntax.

DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL THE OPENERP SOFTWARE

Step 1: Download the appropriate build of OpenERP 7
The version in this example is the latest available as of Dec 19, 2012. There will be a final release in the next few days and you will likely want to use that build instead. Just change out the link.
wget http://nightly.openerp.com/trunk/nightly/src/openerp-7.0alpha-latest.tar.gz
You will get a little character progress bar that will show the package downloading.
Step 2: Unpack the TAR file
cd /opt/openerp
sudo tar xvf ~/openerp-7.0alpha-latest.tar.gz
Naturally you will want to replace the actual name above with the build you have decided to download.
Step 3: Set the permissions on the files
sudo chown -R openerp: *
This command sets the permissions on the file for the openerp user
Step 4: Copy the files over to a directory named Server
Because build names change a lot and can be very cryptic it makes sense to copy the files into a directory that is more friendly.
IMPORTANT: You will likely want to do a ‘dir’ to get the actual directory name that was created from the extracted files. While the wrapper file in this instance was openerp-7.0alpha-latest.tar.gz, the directory created was openerp-7.0alpha-20121206-000102. Therefore this is the name we must use when we copy over the files.
sudo cp -a openerp-7.0alpha-20121206-000102 server
Once again  you will want to replace the above command with the name of the build you actually downloaded.

CONFIGURE THE OPENERP 7 SERVER CONFIG FILE

Step 1: Copy the configuration file
There in a config file in the install directory that we can copy into the /etc directory to get the server up and running.
sudo cp /opt/openerp/server/install/openerp-server.conf /etc/
sudo chown openerp: /etc/openerp-server.conf
sudo chmod 640 /etc/openerp-server.conf
Step 2: Open the OpenERP configuration file
sudo nano /etc/openerp-server.conf
Step 3: Change the password in the config file
Find the entry db_password=false. Change the entry from “False” to the password you used in the PostGres installation

START THE SERVER AND TEST THE INSTALLATION

Step 1: login to the openerp account
sudo su – openerp -s /bin/bash
Step 2: Run the command to start the server
/opt/openerp/server/openerp-server
Step 3: Test the Installation in the browser
Fire up the Firefox browser and navigate to http://0.0.0.0:8069
If the installation has gone successfully then you should see the OpenERP prompting you to create your first database!
